World Test Championship final took place in Southampton, The Rose Bowl Stadium in England. The final match was held between June 18 to 22. There was the utilization of reserve day on 23 of June.

New Zealand beat India beat by 8 wickets and won World Test Championship 2019-2021.

It is very disappointing to team India because of their poor batting performance. Team India captain Virat Kohli expressed his displeasure on his team performance.

Even  Cheteshawar Pujara who is a modern wall for the team India collapsed. In both of the innings, he could not able to build up his innings.

Team India had a lot of hopes on him. But he hardly manages to score 8 and 15 runs in both of the innings.

Team India lost wickets very quickly in the 2nd innings. Moreover, it seems to be given gifts for the NZ bowlers.

On the other hand, India could draw and share the title. But India went on to collapse like pack of cards.

India made only 170 runs in the second innings. The overall best score was 41 from Rishab Pant. The opening pair Rohit and Shubman Gill did not give a good start.

At the end of the 5th day, Virat and Pujara were stood on the crease. There was a reserve day in the World test Championship final. Because there was no play on the first day due to heavy rain.

Some of the experts thought the match ended in a draw. But all assumptions went in vain. Because India lost the remaining 8 wickets before the end of lunch on day 6.

In the world Test Championship final, Virat Kohli continued his bad form, scoring 13 of 29 balls. And 44 runs in the first innings. Then Rohit Sharma too failed to give a good performance in the finals. Ravindra Jadeja did not come up with an all-around show.

Ravindra Jadeja considered as best all-rounder in world test championship.Because of his excellent performance since beginnig of the tournament.

Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane was not up to the expectations. His dismissal was a bit unlucky. Caught behind the keeper on the leg-side instead of leaving, the bat contacted the ball slightly.

Rahane was a high scorer in the first innings, with 49 runs. But he contributes just 15 in the second innings.

On the other hand, New Zealand was excellent in both and batting and bowling.

Kyle Jamieson was the star bowler for NZ. In the first innings, he took 5 wickets haul. Then in the second innings, he sent Virat Kohli and Pujara back to Pavilion.

As a result, Kyle Jamieson was the man of the match on the World Test Championship finals.

Ken Williamson was successful to make a good score in both innings. In the first innings, he made valuable 49 runs being a high scorer in his squad. Then showcased his talent in the second innings with unbeaten 52 runs.

Indian bowlers were not up to the mark in the second innings. Excepts for Ravichandran Ashwin all bowlers were wicketless.

In the World Test Championship final, Ashwin sent openers Latham and Cornay to the pavilion. But other fast bowlers failed miserably to take wickets. R Ashwin was bowling in good line and length.

As result, R Ashwin became the leading wicket-taker in World Test Championship 2021.

On contrary, New Zealand bowlers were stood top in their performance. They were successful in both of the innings, unlike Indian bowlers.

Kyle Jamieson took 7 wickets in the match. Moreover, he took the wicket of Indian captain Virat Kohli twice.

Tim Southee took 5 wickets with his good piece of bowling.

Wagner was too impressed with his skillful bowling. Finally, end up taking 3 wickets. Besides, his bouncers’ attack against Jadeja was extraordinary.

Overall, it was a very good all-around performance from team New Zealand.

In World Test Championship 2021, more than a team play it was rain play. Because rain was an important factor for India’s failure. There were a lot of swings from the fast bowlers.

Further Indian batsmen were struggling to play some good shots. Then went to the pavilion with low scores. Moreover, India lost the toss in the WTC finals.

Why India lost in the World Test Championship final

Another major factor for India’s failure was inconsistency. Because due to the covid-19 breakdown in India, Indian players hardly played any cricket since year long.

Even IPL was also postponed due to the bio bubble breach. Some of the players got covid-19 positive report.

Whereas New Zealand was successful playing some cricket against England. And won the test series with a good margin. Even New Zealand was well aware of the condition in England pretty well.

This made New Zealand be a strong and confident side. Prior to World Test Championship NZ well aware of the players’ potential.

Another reason for India’s failure was the batting style. Because none of India batsmen were capable of playing long innings. They are more likely playing as ODI.

Even on the 6th day of the match, lower middle-order batsmen were busy playing shots. Even Rishab Pant continues his T20 style of batting in WTC finals.

If Indian batsmen were successful in playing long and slow innings then was a chance of a draw. Then WTC title would be in the name of both India and New Zealand.

Finally, New Zealand was the winner of the World Test Championship. It has been almost 22 years for NZ to win any ICC trophy.
